When Conquest Cyber reached out to Pink Shark PR they were sitting on not just some of the best cyber-defense technology in the world, but their President and Founder was about to publish one of the most cutting-edge modern books on cyber threats. Their mission? To make the general public more aware of cybersecurity threats in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. Pink Shark helped develop a nationwide book sales plan that helped Engle’s book get into bookstores everywhere, earn a coveted spot in Forbes, and go viral on Twitter.

The Challenge
Experts routinely argue that while we are currently engaged in a cyber war - just as serious (if not more so) than any other war, we are actively losing it. Nobody seems to care. No matter what Conquest Cyber did, the general public’s eyes glazed over. Conquest Cyber was frustrated by this because they had solid solutions and a President who was a special ops who deeply understood the negative impact cyber attacks have on American life. He had also just written a book that he wanted into the hands of the general public - not just cyber experts. But how do we get them to care?

The Strategy
After talking to a few cybersecurity reporters, we realized that people don’t seem to care about cyber because they really don’t understand what the heck is going on. Most cyber coverage at the time was super niche, and because cyberattacks are warfare you can’t see, it was easier to think it was simply “nerd war” or blame it all on Putin.
Our goal as a team was to create compelling, general stories around cybersecurity attacks and implications that the day-to-day reader could understand. Articles that highlighted exactly how cyber attacks affect the everyday American. We leveraged trending topics, used op-eds to go viral on Twitter with “blunt” predictions and leaned into the eye-opening military stories of Conquest’s Founder and President. Additionally, we mapped out a nationwide book promotion strategy that would help get his book into the hands of everyday people.

The Results
Conquest Cyber became one of the most formidable and well known cybersecurity experts through viral op-eds, Forbes coverage, Microsoft partner awards, and a nationwide book tour that landed the book into bookstores across the country. This rise in visibility and credibility skyrocketed Conquest Cyber’s reputation and they were acquired in 2023.
